Insurance: what “full coverage that extends to rentals” means
Your personal auto policy needs three parts: collision (damage to the car you are driving), comprehensive (theft, weather, vandalism) and liability (damage or injury to others). It has to be in the primary renter’s name, and it has to cover rental cars, which many personal policies do, though some limit the value of the car they cover.
Before you book, call your insurer and ask two questions: does my policy extend to a rental car, and is there a limit on the value of the car it covers? Exotic cars are expensive, so the second answer matters.
Credit card coverage
American Express Premium car rental protection can act as primary insurance for an MVP rental. Other card benefits are often secondary and exclude exotic cars, so check the terms.
How the security deposit works
A refundable security deposit of $1,000 to $1,500, depending on the car, holds the vehicle. It is returned after the rental when no damage is found. If there is damage, MVP inspects the car with you on site and deducts the repair from the deposit.
If your plans change
The deposit that holds your car is refundable, and the concierge confirms the details with your reservation.
